Dates: 19th to 22nd May 2025

In conjunction with a sister organisation – Manchester Lit & Phil – we are planning a stimulating programme of tours and talks for our trip to Manchester in May 2025.

See the Members’ events page for full details.

What’s included

On the coach trip there, we will enjoy a guided tour of the Museum of Lead Mining at Wanlochhead.

There will be visits to Lyme Park and House – famous for location for filming of Pride and Prejudice; to Jodrell Bank; to The Lowry in Salford; to the Whitworth Art Gallery; and to the People’s History Museum.

There will be talks on radio astronomy, on Manchester’s astonishing skyscrapers, and on other topics related to the visit. One talk will be done in co-operation with the Manchester Lit & Phil – a society founded even earlier than our own.
